The Téléthon 2005 (www.telethon.fr) took place on the 2nd & 3rd of December and this
was a great opportunity for Accents United to participate in another charitable event.
Needless to say, on this occasion all of the money raised was donated to the Téléthon
and NOT La Mie de Pain. The event that we took part in was called a Deficyclothon
(http://deficyclothon.free.fr/ ). The idea behind this challenge is that a group of people
cycle indoors, on stationary bikes, for as long as possible. The cycling started at 09.00
and continued until 21.00. For every kilometre cycled, 2 euros were donated to the
Téléthon. Last year all participants cycled a total of 1439km but this year, thanks to
Accents United’s presence, we surpassed this by cycling a total of 2084km in 12
hours!! The turn out was excellent! Many people came along, participated and helped to
raise money in the combat against neuromuscular diseases! One or two members also
got the chance to partake in the final televised program, which took place at Le Grand
Palais, in the presence of Yannck Noah and other such celebrities.
