Orsay Museum-Guided tour in English

A very enthusiastic crowd gathered for the guided tour of the Orsay Museum. An
overview of the Museum's masterpieces including paintings, pastels and sculptures
from well know artists such as Manet, Monet and Degas amongst others, was provided
by our personal guide. Members meandered through the different passages listening
eagerly as our guide explained the different stroke techniques used through the
different centuries. Favourite paintings among members included "Olympia" by
Edouard Manet and many of the impressionist paintings were also a hit. The bronze
statue of "the Young 14 year-old Dancer" by Edgar Degas fascinated many. The
guided tour lasted just over one hour leaving a short period for people to get a glimpse at
other sections of the museum. In order to quench our thirst after the visit, many of us
finished the cultural evening with beer and pizza at "O' Brien's" Irish bar close by!!
