In keeping with our objective to raise money for our chosen charity this year, La Mie de
Pain, we decided to participate in a couple of jumble sales. Many items including
clothes, shoes, books and household objects (even a snowboard!) were kindly donated by
members and friends. Participating committee members got up at the crack of dawn
in order to set up the Accents United stand. The public haggled to get the best deals
and we even had a ‘1⁄2 price happy hour’ which went down a treat with these bargain
hunters! Nearly all items were sold and it was a very successful day. We managed to
raise an impressive 450 euros from both sales. The few remaining items of men’s
clothing were donated directly to La Mie de Pain. We intend to participate in more
jumble sales to raise money for charity so start putting your ‘unwanted items’ aside now!
