12th May,
Capoeira & Mauritian music, LApostrophe,
23 rue de la Grange aux Belles, 75010
A stone’s throw from the banks of the trendy canal Saint Martin
quarter, l’Apostrophe
Café hosted a fun-filled international evening of music and dance. This
friendly
local bar was transformed into an exotic far-off location as Paulo and
his crew gave us
a spectacular display of capoeira, the increasingly popular Brazilian martial
art and
expressive movement form with over 400 years of history. Later in the evening
Jean-
François and his group, Tempo du Gecko, entertained us with a vibrant
acoustic set,
bursting with the local rhythms of the Mauritius islands. The bar was packed
as the
crowd boogied and mingled, making new acquaintances.
